New Wave Film Festival
For this project I wanted to represent the themes and visual arts of Hong-Kong film director Wong Kar-wai’s work. This festival will be showing a short documentary about the life and career of this iconic filmmakers career. “A filmmaker is like a conductor—you have to set all the instruments to one tone.” Wong Kar-wai once said.
2021
He was the most influential modern director beginning in the 1980’s in Hong Kong. The frames in each Wong Kar-wai film are infused with colors that evoke strong moods and emotions. As one of the most distinctive voices working in the cinema field, he pushed the boundaries of Hong Kong genre cinema to create something fresh and innovative.
The concept of this film festival booklet is to present his stylish films through time to give a sense of dreaminess and unique visual aesthetics he provided to his viewers.
